APRIL MEETING OF VISUAL ARTISTS OF CEDAR HILL
The next meeting of the Visual Artists of Cedar Hill
(VACH) is at 7:00pm, Thursday, April 17, 2008, in the
meeting room of the Z.B. Wylie Library, 225 Cedar St.,
Cedar Hill. Guest artist Ken Reese will present a pottery
program entitled “Don't Tell Your Mother, but We are
Playing in the Mud". He will demonstrate several hand-
building projects in wet clay including a platter, a teapot,
and simple ways to decorate and sculpt clay pieces. The
program will also include a slide show of Ken’s travel
and clay study in Italy.
After retiring from a 30 year career in engineering, Ken
has been involved in art of one form or another for the
past 13 years. He currently works in watercolor and
acrylic mediums as well as ceramics, and has studied
with many notable artists, locally, nationally and
internationally. His art and pottery are in private
collections across the United States, and his work has
won many awards. Ken does demonstrations for art
groups, and participates in many art and pottery festivals
and exhibits in Texas and New Mexico each year. During
the winter months he teaches pottery in Rockport, TX. A
constant traveler, Ken draws inspiration for his art from
around the world and uses plenty of bold colors and
glazes in his work.
Visitors are welcome to join us for Ken's presentation on
the 17th. VACH is open to all artists and anyone
interested in learning more about the visual arts.
